Rasmus Kristensen is expected to sign a permanent contract with Eintracht Frankfurt if Leeds United and the team agree to a £10 million trade.
After failing to secure promotion, Daniel Farke was once again faced with a challenging summer window in the Championship, complete with a few loan clauses.
After having trouble at Roma, Rasmus Kristensen was able to secure another top flight transfer, and he is currently playing well for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Sky Sports: Kristensen to be sold by Leeds for £10 million
Journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports claims that Eintracht is so happy with Kristensen’s play since he joined the team on loan that they are considering exercising their buy option sooner rather than later.
As part of Kristensen’s Bundesliga loan agreement, there is a permanent buyout option that the Eintracht management has allegedly “already decided” upon:
Leeds may not even break even on the 27-year-old they signed from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 if the transfer fee goes up to £10 million.
Selling flop Kristensen for eight figures is a stunning move by the 49ers.
Under Jesse Marsch, Kristensen had a great reputation when he arrived at Elland Road in 2022, but it quickly collapsed, and he never seemed to be able to keep up with the Premier League’s speed.
He moved to Roma, where he was managed by Jose Mourinho at the time. He didn’t make an impression, saying he wasn’t cut out for two of the greatest leagues in Europe, which implied Leeds wouldn’t get anything in return for the £10 million they paid.
Nevertheless, he established himself in Germany with Eintracht, and even though his stock has dropped precipitously over the last two years, the 49ers appear poised to recover all of the money he spent during his stay.
Being able to view Kristensen’s departure with the knowledge that he isn’t really hurting us in the transfer market but is actually greatly improving our PSR ranking is a fantastic victory for the team.
It’s clear that the club and the supporters don’t want him back, so to profit at a high value in spite of that is a huge boost. He doesn’t want to be here.
