The Rangers veteran Barry Ferguson says he is aware of the high level of interest in the current chief executive officer position at the team.

Since James Bisgrove departed Glasgow for the wealth of Saudi Arabia at the end of May, the Light Blues have been without a CEO.

Due to Bisgrove’s appointment as CEO of Al-Qadsiah Saudi Club, Rangers now have a significant void in their organisational hierarchy as the 2024–25 season approaches.

After a few months and seven matches into the new Premiership campaign, Rangers still don’t have a Bisgrove replacement.

Furthermore, John Gilligan serves as the Rangers’ interim chairman until a suitable replacement is found.

The club also lacks an academy director, and this week they received yet another shocking announcement regarding the departure of Creag Robertson, who was appointed director of football operations, effective December 31.

What, then, has Ferguson been told about the Rangers and their CEO search?

Barry Ferguson claims to be the CEO of the Rangers.

The former Gers midfielder, writing in his Daily Record column, acknowledges that there is interest in the CEO post from down south, but he cautions that it may still take many months to obtain an appointee.

According to Ferguson, it is not simple to find the kind of serious operators that are needed.

According to what I’ve been informed, there has been a lot of interest in the chief executive position, and some intriguing individuals from the South are eager to go to Glasgow.

“Of course, the board must exercise due diligence, and there may also be a notice period to consider.

Therefore, it may be a few more months before Rangers are able to make these important additions.

“I understand that people are growing impatient since it’s taking so long, considering Bisgrove left at the end of May and Bennett resigned four weeks ago due to health concerns. Nonetheless, we must be willing to wait for them if we are serious about obtaining quality candidates.

Rangers, according to Ferguson, are not “rudderless.”

“Creag Robertson’s resignation as news director of football operations this week has caused yet another round of sighs, but in my opinion, it doesn’t have to be viewed as the most recent crisis point.

It is evident that the club is undergoing a process that involves making adjustments to the top of the Marble Staircase.

“Creag has made the decision that it is time to move on and explore opportunities elsewhere, but that merely presents an opportunity for whoever takes over as the next chairman and CEO to appoint their own personnel.

“I’ve heard many people say that since John Bennett and James Bisgrove resigned, the club has lost its direction and rudder. But that isn’t true at all.

“John Gilligan has returned to his position as chairman, and George Letham is working with him to help him while they finish their search for a new chairman of the board and a chief executive officer.
