Hearts are currently looking for a long-term replacement after firing Steven Naismith in September.

As they look for a manager to replace Steven Naismith, Hearts have apparently added two more names to their shortlist.

The Edinburgh team had an extremely successful season last year, finishing third, but they have lost their first eight league games this year.

Liam Fox has been Hearts’ interim manager at Tynecastle for the past few weeks. But as of right now, it’s well known that the capital team is searching for a more seasoned player to guide the team ahead.

Earlier this week, the Edinburgh Evening News reported that negotiations with seasoned Norwegian Per-Mathias Hogmo had broken down and that focus was now on emerging Swedish manager Kalle Karlsson and former Blackpool manager Neil Critchley.

Both players are still being considered at this time, but Sun Sport has learnt that Hearts executives are also thinking about making a move for former Wales manager Rob Page and former Birmingham City player Gary Rowett.

For the first time in seven years, Page is looking to rejoin a club football team. In 2014, he began his management career at Port Vale, where he spent two happy years as manager of the English League Two team before taking a position with the freshly promoted Northampton in League One.

After only six months at Priestfields, he was let go, and the team finished in sixteenth place.

After taking over as Under-21 manager for the Dragons in 2017, he replaced Ryan Giggs in the dugout in time for the postponed Euro 2020, where his team advanced to the round of 16.

After Wales qualified for the World Cup in 2022, Page became the first manager to lead the country to a World Cup in 64 years. However, he was fired after the team’s more recent failure to qualify for Euro 2024 and a lacklustre performance in Qatar.

In his most recent managerial position, he took over a struggling Birmingham team for the final eight games of the previous campaign. Despite winning just three of his eight games in command, he was unable to prevent the relegation.

When the Premiership returns on Saturday, when St Mirren visits Tynecastle, Hearts would like a new manager in place. Five days later, they host Omonia Nicosia in the Conference League.
