Blake’s upcoming “Elijah” deluxe album is the first release from the album.
“Stuck in My Ways” is a new song by singer-songwriters Elijah Blake and Sevyn Streeter.
Blake and Streeter speak about a relationship that is ready to fall apart on the emotional song, which was produced by Eric Hudson.
In the opening stanza, Blake sings, “What if I don’t know / Where to go from here? / As soon as loving me, loving me / Became a heavy load / You disappeared / Silence in my loneliness.”
“We should learn from our mistakes / Talk it out, not run away / Baby hear me loud, Oh I don’t want to lose you / ‘Cause I get upset too / That ain’t no excuse to get in our own way,” Streeter sings in response in verse two.
The first single from Elijah!, the deluxe edition of Blake’s self-titled album that will be available on October 25 through MRNK Records, is “Stuck in My Ways.”
In addition to Keyshia Cole, Kim Burrell, Salt of Salt-n-Pepa, Kirby, Maeta, Tone Stith, Jaz Karis, Tiana Major9, and Kareen Lomax, the deluxe CD will have nine more tracks.
On August 2, Blake’s album Elijah was released. The singles “Ghostbuster,” “Sugarwater & Lime,” and “Company” came out before the album.
Blake gave an explanation for the lack of features in the regular edition in an interview with Rated R&B. “The project is devoid of features. Blake told Rated R&B, “I wanted it to be just me, my thoughts, my stories, my joy, my pain, and my shame.”
Even while I enjoy working with others, he continued, “I didn’t want to give someone the opportunity to interrupt the tale and mislead the audience. I feel like myself, and this R&B scene requires all of my eccentricities and strange stuff.
Streeter’s second 2024 collaboration is “Stuck in My Ways.” She made an appearance on Eric Bellinger’s song “Drop” off his album The Rebirth 3 earlier this year.
