Towards the end of August, the Sunderland defender suffered a debilitating long-term injury.
Following the defender’s most recent setback, injured Sunderland player Aji Alese was seen on social media wearing a leg brace.
At the end of August, Alese suffered an ankle injury while training. Régis Le Bris, the head coach, first anticipated he would only be sidelined for around a month. But the whole investigation showed that the former West Ham player will be out for a long time.
On August 31, Alese, 23, was placed on the sidelines for a maximum of 12 weeks. It is anticipated that the defender will be fully recovered by the end of November or the start of December. As he continues his recuperation, Alese also recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a leg brace.
Sunderland hopes the centre defender, who enjoyed an incredible start to the season, will be able to return following the international break in November. When the Black Cats realised how serious Alese’s injury was on deadline day, they acted swiftly and signed Chris Mepham, a defender for Bournemouth, on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Welsh centre-back joined Sunderland on loan on the day of last month’s transfer deadline. He made his debut in red and white at the Stadium of Light against Middlesbrough. Since then, he has faced Watford, Derby County, and Leeds United, and with nine games played, the Wearsiders are currently leading the league.

Before transferring to Sunderland to play more frequently, the 26-year-old had a substantial amount of game time with the Cherries in the Premier League. He has a promotion from the Championship on his resume with parent club Bournemouth.
