Rangers currently need as many “winners” as possible, and yesterday a commentator pointed out one that need to be on the squad.
Despite getting back on track and scoring three points against St Mirren over the weekend, the team’s performance wasn’t particularly compelling.
The following games are a league cup semi-final matchup against Motherwell and a trip to Aberdeen, who are six points ahead in the league. It’s a challenging time.
In addition to the size of the fixtures, they are arriving quickly.
Fans will be hoping that some of the other games can be handled more convincingly, and Philippe Clement will have to oversee his team.
Is Dujon Sterling a good fit for the Rangers?
Due to his challenges for playing time, Michael Stewart stated yesterday that he believes Clement needs to add “winner” Dujon Sterling to his Rangers squad.
The utility player made his first appearance since a six-minute cameo against St Johnstone on October 6 when he was given a sub appearance against St Mirren.
Although he has only started two Premiership games this year, he was frequently deployed last season on the wings, in midfield, and across the backline.
On the Premier Sports Scottish Football Social Club show, Stewart brought up the subject again and reaffirmed his unwavering support for Sterling to play.
“I just don’t get it,” he said. He shouldn’t be playing centre back, in my opinion. Sterling should play right back, in my opinion, but Kasanwirjo is currently overtaking him (as Tavernier).
“But in the middle of the park, if you’re looking for a little presence and athleticism, a Sterling in there would have better balance.”
Alan Hutton raised a possible “red flag” regarding the 25-year-old, but he wasn’t disputing the argument.
“I think Connor Barron has done well since he’s come in, and Diomande has maybe not hit the heights that we’ve seen in the past,” the former Gers right-back stated. Someone with some experience is what they need.
“I understand that Sterling lacks experience, but I believe that’s what they’re missing. The midfields of Celtic and Aberdeen, for example, have seasoned players who can dominate games, and I don’t think Rangers exhibits that enough.
It’s an intriguing one, Stanley. He said he wasn’t fit enough when he played Kasanwirjo ahead of him at left-back in the Malmo game, I believe. For me, that was a serious warning sign. Does he not put up enough effort? Was there a knock? He is currently used infrequently.
The situation involving the James Tavernier Rangers would be “flabbergasting.”
Additionally, Stewart stated that if James Tavernier did not start for Rangers against Aberdeen, he will be “flabbergasted” and “astonished.”
Despite being on the bench against St Mirren, the 32-year-old skipper was most likely just getting some rest. The commentator maintains that the captain will most likely return to the team at Pittodrie.
“I would be completely shocked if Tavernier didn’t play against Aberdeen,” he stated. It’s a crucial match for the Rangers.
“If Tavernier isn’t participating in the game, I’d be shocked.”
