According to a recent rumour, Leicester City is keeping an eye on a player who is “unplayable” as they try to make a move during the summer transfer window.
Over the weekend, the Foxes saved a point by scoring in the last seconds of their match against Ipswich Town. They are now five points clear of relegation as a result of the performance, continuing their recent upward trend.
At Ipswich, Leicester steals a draw.
The Leicester manager was already facing a lot of criticism, even after the Foxes were relegated to the Championship and Steve Cooper took Enzo Maresca’s place in the summer.
Even after their first Premier League victory in October, Cooper’s future was uncertain due to the campaign’s terrible start. However, after a victory against Southampton and a draw at Ipswich, the pressure may be beginning to lessen.
Jordan Ayew’s goal in 90+4 minutes gave Leicester a point at Portman Road, and Cooper thought it was the least his team deserved.
“We’ve demonstrated that multiple times this season; it’s encouraging that you can take players off the pitch and still have an impact on the game,” he remarked. When we performed well, we were better than everyone else. We weren’t always good at things. They scored a fantastic goal. The level we played at, in my opinion, was always going to affect the outcome of the game.
“We gave the Ipswich periods a chance to gain some game momentum. We continued, and I sensed that objective was approaching. Although I thought we deserved to win, we got a far better outcome than they did.
The long-term transfer strategy for the Ipswich winger is being planned by Leicester officials.
The Sun claims that Leicester City is closely monitoring Jack Clarke at Ipswich Town. The 23-year-old, who paid £15 million to join the Tractor Boys from Sunderland in the summer, has had a difficult season as the winger has failed to score in the league—in fact, he hasn’t managed a shot on goal in 335 minutes of play. He scored 27 goals in 94 games for the Black Cats before to this.
Since Clarke signed a deal until 2029 and has been called “unplayable” by commentator Adrian Clarke, Ipswich probably won’t be in a rush to sell a player they recently acquired. Nonetheless, Leicester has a long-term transfer strategy in mind and is keeping an eye on the winger.
This is because Clarke has already played for Sunderland and Ipswich this season, making it impossible for them to sign him in January. In order to increase their attacking options in preparation for what could be another season in the top flight, the Foxes are putting plans in place to try to sign Clarke next summer.
Prior to this season, Clarke had Premier League experience as a player for Tottenham Hotspur, but the move didn’t work out. His move to Portman Road hasn’t improved much thus far, and Leicester will be hoping to give him the platform he needs to succeed if they maintain their position in the top tier.
