In the Women’s Champions League, Chelsea defeated Celtic 2-1. The Blues had to rally from a goal deficit following Murphy Agnew’s opening goal, but goals from Ashley Lewis and Maika Hamano gave Chelsea their tenth consecutive victory of the season, bringing their record to three wins from three in the WC.

Chelsea maintained their undefeated start in the Women’s Champions League by defeating Celtic 2-1, despite having to come back from a goal deficit.

Murphy Agnew completed a quick counter from the home team to give Celtic a startling lead in the 22nd minute, their first genuine attack of the match.

Chelsea, who have won 12 straight games across all competitions, did not trail for very long, though.
Chelsea, who had undergone significant upheaval, attempted to increase their lead in the second half but Celtic goalkeeper Daugherty was playing well. Prior to Johanna Rytting, she twice rejected substitute Catarina Macario. Daugherty held Chelsea at bay, keeping out Kaneryd’s low shot.
The Blues held on for a third consecutive victory in the Women’s Champions League to sit atop Group B with nine points, but they were unable to score the third goal when Beever-Jones was sent off in stoppage time following two bookable offenses.
Although Celtic put up a strong display, they are still at the bottom of the group and are still waiting for their first competitive point.

Bompastor is dissatisfied with the performance.

Sonia Bompastor, head coach of Chelsea:

“Given the Celtic attitude, I thought it would be a difficult game for us. They performed with a great deal of passion and emotion. We anticipated that they would be highly motivated.

As a manager, I also made the decision to rotate my team, thus occasionally it may happen that the players don’t click as well. However, I wanted my team to think better of me. Although I’m pleased with the victory and the three points, I’m not very pleased with the performance. Tonight, we weren’t productive enough.

“There is always a chance to learn from every game. I’ve learnt a lot tonight, and I’ll impart that knowledge to both my squad and individual players.

“There are a few advantages. We may still rotate players and give some players a break with our group. We maintain a positive dynamic since we had the three points and the victory, but we needed to do better in a few other areas.

“The three substitutes were prearranged, and as a manager, I usually have several preparations for the game. That’s the good thing. We are only now proceeding and into the Manchester City match with the precise ideas we had in mind.”
