CoventryLive says that the shortlist for Mark Robins’ replacement has been created and that the interview process has begun.
According to the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard will meet with Coventry City in the next few days as the Championship team narrows down their shortlist for Mark Robins’ replacement. After Sky Blues owner Doug King and his advisors narrowed down their initial pool of over 70 hopefuls, the former manager of Derby County, Chelsea and Everton is reportedly one of a few candidates for the position.
Lampard, 46, submitted his resume for consideration for the position, which is now for Head Coach rather than a traditional manager role, with a sporting director to be appointed, King disclosed earlier this week.
King had not spoken to Lampard. The story goes on to say, “Lampard is a strong contender, but not the only name under serious consideration.”
Before making his ultimate choice, King was expected to consult with a number of British and foreign coaches. Additionally, he will heed the counsel of Dean Austin, head of recruitment, and Dr. Claire-Marie Roberts, director of performance.
Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and Lee Carsley, who is scheduled to return to coach England Under-21s after coaching the seniors in the Nations League, have been connected to the position. When new manager Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford earlier this week, Van Nistelrooy quit. In 2018–19, Lampard’s lone season in the Championship, he led Derby to within ninety minutes of promotion through the play-offs. After a year at Everton, he has now had two stints as Chelsea’s manager.
