Ahead of Saturday’s match between the two teams, France captain Antoine Dupont thinks “legendary” New Zealand is back to their best.
Following three straight victories, including their thrilling victory against Ireland last week, the All Blacks go to Paris.
Three-time world champions New Zealand had begun the Scott Robertson era with a lacklustre June series and an underwhelming Rugby Championship until their recent run.
On Friday, Dupont told reporters, “I think they’ve rediscovered their rugby and certainly their best level of performance of recent years.”
With their amazing and motivating players, they are a renowned squad that has inspired generations of people.
The former World Rugby player of the year went on to say, “They play a rugby that is close to what we love in France.”
France has won both of their previous meetings with New Zealand, including the 2021 World Cup opening match at the Stade de France.
Since taking over the national team after the 2019 World Cup, Fabien Galthie’s biggest victory to date was the 2021 triumph.
Additionally, the victory snapped a 14-match losing streak against New Zealand that began in 2009.
Dupont, who turned 28 on Friday, went on to say, “Playing the All Blacks is always a big, important game.”
The 2021 one was crucial to the development of our narrative. Our team was younger and lacked experience.
Secure Scott Barrett, one of ten people who survived the World Cup opening defeat in the French capital, will lead New Zealand.
Barrett stated, “We most likely lost the scrum battle last year.”
The night was heated and tense, and we didn’t fully carry out our plan.
“However, this is a new group, and we’re eager to build on our current tour performance and aim for a strong finish,” he continued.
This past weekend, Dupont faced Japan in his first Test match for France in more than a year.
The Olympic gold medallist had a significant performance, contributing two assists.
Barrett remarked, “He is the general as such.” “He’s fairly well-rounded, strong, and skilled. He is in charge of their game.
“On the other hand, it will greatly benefit us in terms of the outcome tomorrow night if we can keep the ball out of his hands and at least give him a messy ball.”
