After Petar Sucic was sent off for a challenge on Rangers defender John Souttar during Scotland’s victory over Croatia, Tom English was perplexed by the proceedings.
On November 15, Steve Clarke’s team met Croatia at Hampden Park in the UEFA Nations League. John McGinn’s late goal gave them the victory, 1-0.
English, who wrote for the BBC on November 15, thought the dismissal for two bookings was punitive and found the theatrics that ensued after the halftime whistle blew to be funny.
Croatia ought to have been one or two goals ahead, but they weren’t. If they were annoyed, it was nothing in comparison to the situation they were going into.
“Sucic was found to have crashed into John Souttar while on a booking, and the red came out.” Modric abruptly lost his shape, and it was unfair.
He yelled, sarcastically laughed, and waved his arms in shock. He was then booked. On Monday, he will miss Portugal.
In a mildly humorous moment during the break, one of his coaches gazed out at Grinfeeld. The Croatian advanced, and a yellow card was shown. Pantomime items. Fantastic.
Following Scotland’s victory over Croatia, Rangers were thrilled with John Souttar.
After a difficult period for the nation, Souttar helped Scotland secure a massive three points by displaying his class against one of the world’s top teams.
Even though the red card aided the Tartan Army in the first half, they still had a lot of work to do, and they made sure Croatia had no shots on goal after the interval.
According to FotMob, the Rangers defender won all seven of his duels against Zlatko Dalic’s team, made seven passes into the final third for Scotland, made two blocks, cleared three balls, made one interception, and made five recoveries.
The Light Blues supporters in Glasgow will be thrilled with the 28-year-old’s performance and hope he returns to the team in the same manner.
Philippe Clement, who is under fire at the club, has relied heavily on Souttar, who has started all but one of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership games this season.
The Bears are currently in third place in the league standings, nine points behind Aberdeen and Celtic.
The current campaign has seen Clement’s club keep ten clean sheets across all competitions, but Souttar and his teammates still have a lot more work to do before the Ibrox supporters will trust them again.
