Current Leicester City news as Steve Cooper’s Foxes are ready to play Chelsea in the Premier League again Steve Cooper, the manager of Leicester City, has reportedly been “looking over his shoulder” since Ruud van Nilstelrooy departed Manchester United.
With 11 league games played thus far this season, Cooper has guided City to 10 points. The Foxes are in 15th place, three points above the relegation zone, before they resume play after the international break.
Just before the break, though, they suffered their worst loss to the Premier League season to date. During the game, there were cries of “Cooper, sort it out” and loud jeers from the away end following the final whistle of the team’s 3-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
That was Van Nilstelrooy’s last game as interim manager, and he was leading the home team. Since Ruben Amorim became United’s new manager, he has departed the team.
The Sun claims that Cooper was chosen for the City position before Graham Potter and the Dutchman. However, the Welshman “may be looking over his shoulder” as “managerial options come on the horizon” because both Potter and Van Nistelrooy are unemployed and the Foxes have lost their last three league games.
Potter, the former manager of Chelsea, is reportedly “itching for a return” to management after passing on the positions at United and England. As long as “he had time” to contribute this season, he reportedly “would be open” to a Premier League position. According to the Sun, Cooper has “until the end of the year to impress” before his future is decided. On Saturday, November 23 at 12:30 p.m., City will welcome Chelsea and former manager Enzo Maresca at King Power Stadium.
