Since 2018, he has not participated in any NRL games.
After playing for the Entrance Tigers this season, Blake Austin, a former playmaker for several NRL clubs, has stated that he will play for a different team the next season.
Austin made his debut in 2011 and played 122 games over eight seasons with the Penrith Panthers, Wests Tigers, and Canberra Raiders before bringing his skills to the Super League abroad.
Austin, a Portugal and Great Britain international, was instrumental in the Leeds Rhinos’ run to the 2022 Super League Grand Final before St Helens RLFC defeated them.
Austin transferred teams to join the Berkeley Vale Panthers as their 2025 marquee signing after playing this season with the Entrance Tigers in the Central Coast Division Rugby League.
He will also be the club’s Junior Development Mentor upon arrival, assisting in the development of the team’s future junior prospects.
Berkeley Vale, who played in the same league as the Tigers, had four victories in 18 games this season, good for tenth place.
Despite being strongly linked to a move to the Wests Tigers last year before they signed Jayden Sullivan, Aidan Sezer, a former colleague, and Latu Fainu, a young player for the Manly Sea Eagles, the move essentially reaffirms that he is unlikely to return to the NRL.
