Legendary reader Adam Le Fondre made his way back to Berkshire on Sunday to participate in a Q&A session at the Purple Turtle.
Former Reading manager Brian McDermott joined him to share with supporters memories of Reading’s final Premier League season in 2012–2013 as well as the 2011–2012 Championship title winning campaign.
Le Fondre, fresh from scoring for FC United Of Manchester in a 2-2 tie against Workington on Saturday – provided Reading supporters a glimpse into what happened on behind closed doors during his time at Reading, including a punch up between Alex Pearce and Royston Drenthe.
The former striker’s greatest memory of his time at Reading is his two goals in the pivotal 3-1 victory at Southampton during the 2011–2012 promotion season. He was the team’s top scorer in all three of his seasons there.
Before returning to Manchester, he also autographed shirts and spoke with supporters.
“It was brilliant to be able to share memories of my time at Reading,” Le Fondre remarked. “I really enjoyed it.”
“It has been one of the best days of my life, seeing two of my heroes,” stated Byron Richards, a reader.
Fans will get the opportunity to meet and ask former Reading midfielder Jem Karacan, who was a member of the team during their final Premier League season, questions during his Q&A session at the Purple Turtle on Sunday afternoon.
