The January transfer rumour mill at Celtic has begun to spin.
Even though there are still more than six weeks until the winter transfer reopens, discussions are already beginning well in advance.
After all, many individuals have already decorated their trees and lights, even though Christmas is still more than a month away.
Since Celtic most likely doesn’t need to achieve anything particularly noteworthy, it will be interesting to watch their journey.
There isn’t much to be concerned about because Brendan Rodgers’ team is dominating every competition.
However, considering that the starting lineup chooses itself, you have to wonder how far Celtic will push the boat out.
Even if the Bhoys are winning a lot of games, including the Champions League, there are still rumours that players are drawing interest from other teams.
Additionally, there is concern that another well-known player will follow Matt O’Riley out the door when he left Celtic for Brighton in the summer.
Marvin Bartley criticises the idea Nicolas Kuhn would move to Brentford from Celtic.
For all parties involved, Nicolas Kuhn’s transformation in Celtic colours this season is a welcome change in form.
The reasons he had trouble when he first arrived in Glasgow in January are well known, but he now plays and looks like a totally different beast.
It makes sense that this has sparked discussions about Kuhn’s long-term prospects with the club, particularly whether or not offers would be made in January.
Marvin Bartley quickly put an end to the idea that Kuhn may depart for Brentford for £30 million, saying the player wouldn’t want to move anyplace.
Additionally, he stated to Clyde 1 that he would not trade Champions League football for a relegation fight, with all due respect.
“He’s been outstanding,” Bartley remarked. “I don’t think Celtic would accept £30 million from Brentford right now. To be honest, I don’t think Kuhn would want to go.
“I believe they would prefer to hold off until the season was over. For him, they would most likely receive more money. Based on his current performance, I believe he will only continue to improve this season. He’s a really young man still.
However, we can understand why he shed all of his weight and other issues when he first joined a football team. He has also been outstanding this season. It’s going to be that major financial move. At his age, there is no question about it. At least until the summer, I believe he will stay at Celtic and enjoy football; if he makes the national squad, it will be a step up for him. You don’t give up the Champions League, and you do go to Brentford and fight for relegation, no offence intended.
Kuhn’s Celtic stats
There is no point in selling Kuhn, even if a team offers a lot of money in January.
At the end of January, Celtic will travel to Aston Villa for their final Champions League match in this newly created group stage.
At the very least, the champions will advance to the playoffs, after which Kuhn might be called up for Germany.
When you combine all of that with winning more trophies, it will help raise his worth, but only if he remains in one place.
Kuhn’s efforts this season have received a 7.56 rating from WhoScored, with his European performances receiving an extremely high rating of 7.40.
