Will Evans, a flanker for the Harlequins, has agreed to a new deal with the Premiership team.
The 27-year-old won three club player of the year accolades last season and was a member of the team that won the Premiership in 2020–21.
The destructive flank, known for his impact in the contact area and clamp-like strength over the ball, is getting close to making 100 appearances (96) in a Harlequins shirt and has solidified his status as a fan favourite.
At the breakdown, Evans is considered one of the league’s best disruptors. He had 20 Premiership turnovers last season, which was second only to teammate Alex Dombrandt’s 21. With an incredible 286 attempts, he also topped the attempted tackles made chart.
Evans’ finest rugby was played in the renowned Quarters during the 2023–2024 season, when he won three awards at the Harlequins End of Season Awards: Supporters’ Player, Players’ Player, and Men’s Player of the Year.
With nine tries already after just six rounds, he is on track to surpass last year’s turnover total and has played in every league game this season. He has also scored three tries, including a double at Sandy Park in a decisive performance against Exeter Chiefs.
Evans is committed to competing for additional awards at the club that has become his “home” both this season and in the future.
Evans declared, “I can’t wait to sign my new contract.”
“I feel like London and the Club are my home, and I love playing for the coaches who have invested time and energy in my growth. I don’t want that to alter.
“This club makes me feel valued. I enjoy wearing the shirt, playing at The Stoop, and going to work every day. I also get along well with the supporters and the rest of the team.
“I knew I wanted to continue moving ahead with this plaque on my breast because, personally, last year was the best of my career. There are a lot of young people coming up that will keep the club moving forward, and maybe we can make a lot more memories and win more awards.
“Will has been one of our many standout performers during my time at the Club, and we are all delighted he’ll remain a Harlequin for seasons to come,” said head coach Danny Wilson.
Everyone on and off the team respects him for his reliable performances, and the accolades he received at the conclusion of the previous campaign speak for themselves.
“Every time he on the pitch, our fans adore him because of his hunger and desire. Will is a vital player of our team who fights for every ball and never looks to back down.
