Alistair Johnston, a Canadian international, has signed a new deal with Celtic Football Club that will expire in the summer of 2029.

After joining Celtic at the end of 2022, the defender has already made 79 appearances and netted six goals for the team. He excels at right-back and has been instrumental in the team’s recent victories. Ali earned his 50th and 51st Canadian caps this week, surpassing the half-century international milestone for his nation.

“I am just thrilled to extend my contract with Celtic,” Alistair stated. After receiving a fantastic welcome to the club in 2022, I have had the best experience ever and have loved every second of being a part of such a wonderful organization. I wanted to stay a part of it.

Wearing that iconic shirt each week is an incredible honor, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to have already had so much success with my teammates. Naturally, though, we are focused on wanting more.

It is truly a pleasure to work every day in such a fantastic environment, with such a fantastic group of guys on the team, and with the gaffer and staff who are so driven for success.

“Of course, my teammates have been everything to me. I am honored to be a part of this amazing dressing room with such great guys by my side, and I know that we are all working together to give our fans even more success in the years to come.”

Brendan Rodgers, manager of Celtic, went on to say: “The fact that Ali has accepted to this new deal is great news for the team and our supporters.

He has proven to be an outstanding player for Celtic in a comparatively short amount of time, displaying genuine talent and consistently putting up strong performances for us.

“He has an incredible work ethic and attitude, a genuine desire to get better at everything he does, a brilliant hunger and positivity, and an honest love for the game.”

“He has undoubtedly exhibited these traits for Celtic, which are what define a great player.

“I am thrilled that we have been able to extend Ali’s contract with Celtic, as everyone at the club felt it was essential.”
