Scotland experiences many postponements due to weather conditions.
Storm Bert interrupted Saturday’s Scottish sporting card, and there may be more cancellations in the future.
Ten Scottish Professional Football League games have already been postponed, and the bad weather has ruined all six of the Arnold Clark Premiership’s rugby matches.
There will undoubtedly be repercussions for fixtures all throughout Scotland as a result of Saturday morning’s chilling winds, intense rain, sleet, and snowfall.
Hamilton Accies vs. Raith Rovers, Morton vs. Partick Thistle, and Airdrieonians vs. Livingston are off in the William Hill Championship, while Dunfermline Athletic is cautioning against going to Ayr. The club posted at midday, “As a duty of care to our fans, #DAFC is advising supporters against travelling to Ayr for this afternoon’s match, given the current severe weather conditions in and around Fife.”
Kelty v. Hearts v. Arbroath, Queen of the South v. Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and Alloa v. Dumbarton are also cancelled in League One. After their team bus got stranded in the snow at Broxden Services, Stenhousemuir’s match against Cove Rangers has been postponed. To try to overcome the circumstances, Montrose vs. Annan Athletic will start an hour later at 4 p.m. In League Two, Spartans vs. Stranraer, Elgin City vs. Clyde, and Bonnyrigg Rose vs. Stirling Albion are all off.
As of this writing, Motherwell has warned fans not to go up the A9 to their away game against Ross County, but all six of the William Hill Premiership games are expected to proceed as planned.
At 11.30 a.m., the Steelmen posted on social media, saying: “The club has been in touch with the SPFL and the match officials.” Yesterday, the Motherwell squad and the match officials made the trip up. Fans are being advised not to take the A9. As of right now, the game is proceeding.
The top flight in Scotland has three more games that tip off at 3 p.m. Rangers host Dundee United, St. Johnstone hosts Kilmarnock, and St. Mirren hosts Aberdeen.
A St Mirren post stated, “After heavy snowfall this morning, we’re currently dealing with some challenging conditions at The SMiSA Stadium with volunteers clearing the pitch and car park areas.” “The game is still going on at 11:15 a.m. As events develop, we will keep supporters informed.
At Dens Park, Dundee will play Hibs at 5:45 p.m. The Queensferry Crossing and the M90 are closed today, and the club posted on social media, “We would remind all supporters to leave plenty of time when travelling to today’s match due to the weather conditions.” On the Police Scotland website, you can stay current on the most recent travel recommendations. Only one food kiosk will be open in the South Enclosure due to the weather. Please note that kickoff is at 5:45 p.m. today.
The Premiership match between Hearts and Celtic is scheduled to begin at 7.45 p.m. at Tynecastle.
Following the cancellation of Heriot’s vs. Ayr, Edinburgh Accies vs. Marr, Watsonians vs. Glasgow Hawks, Musselburgh vs. Selkirk, and Hawick vs. Melrose due to inclement weather, there will not be any domestic rugby in Scotland on Saturday.
As of right now, the Scotland A game against Chile at Edinburgh’s Hive Stadium is scheduled to proceed. At 10.30 am, the SRU bulletin reads: “We’ll keep an eye on the situation at Hive Stadium before tonight’s Scotland ‘A’ match. Supporters are urged to exercise extra caution when travelling to and from the Murrayfield Campus this weekend due to the predicted weather.
