Clubs all across Europe are interested in the midfield player, but Celtic might not be able to sign him.
Pat Bonner is worried that Lennon Miller’s playing time may be limited if he moves from Motherwell to Celtic, citing Luke McCowan as an example.
Prior to joining Fir Park’s juvenile ranks, Miller was a member of the Celtic academy. He is currently experiencing a meteoric rise with the Steelmen, having been the mainstay of Stuart Kettlewell’s team thus far this season. The 18-year-old has reportedly been seen by the Hoops and Rangers, while Miller is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League teams Liverpool and Southampton, with Motherwell hoping to earn £4 million.
However, Bonner believes that with the variety of midfield alternatives available to Brendan Rodgers, the wonderkid would significantly reduce his playing time if he follows in McCowan’s footsteps. Despite making the ideal transfer to leave Dundee on deadline day, McCowan has only made two starts for the Hoops thus far. Bonner said, “Probably not,” in response to a BBC Sportsound question about whether Miller would get into Celtic’s midfielder.
Luke McCowan had a significant impact as well when he entered. Because he fits Brendan Rodgers’ desired player profile, he has never appeared out of place.
“They all train together every single day. They most likely train the same manner they play, so I doubt you’ll make the squad if you’re a little off.
“They have other choices, but you’re right—Lennon Miller is a fantastic player with excellent skill on the ball and as a distributor, but he might not make the squad if he joins. He needs to continue receiving games, so that would be unfortunate for him. He needs to continue playing games. That is crucial.
