Prior to Plymouth Argyle’s matchup with Norwich City in the middle of the week, Morgan Whittaker has been a minor injury concern.

The forward might not be available for action when the Pilgrims visit Carrow Road on Tuesday night, according to Plymouth Live.

Wayne Rooney’s team earned a 2-2 draw at home on Friday night, marking their return to action after the November international break.

In front of their home fans, a late goal from Andre Grey deep in stoppage time gave them a point against the Hornets.

Whittaker did not play the entire game, though, as he was substituted out in the 68th minute because of a toe injury.

A fitness update for Morgan Whittaker

Whittaker, a forward with three goals in 15 league games thus far, is an important member of Rooney’s team.

He did, however, bring into the game the toe problem that forced him to leave in the second half on Friday night.

Since it resulted in his substitution, there are now worries that he could not be able to make the journey to play the Canaries in the middle of the week.

Ahead of their midweek trip to Norfolk, the third-longest league trip the squad must undertake this season, this has raised questions over his immediate health.

Though it’s unclear if he would be unavailable, his absence would be a serious setback for the club.

Adding this to Plymouth’s already dire injury situation will only make things worse for Rooney’s team.

Conor Hazard, Brendan Galloway, Joe Edwards, Ryan Hardie, Muhammad Tijani, and Ibrahim Cissoko are already sidelined due to injuries.

As the league calendar enters a busy phase, this has left the Championship team with little options.

Wayne Rooney draws attention to the absence of hope.
Rooney stated that he anticipates a tough test away to Norwich following Friday night’s draw at home against Watford.

After collecting a point against Derby County the previous time they travelled, he is optimistic that his players can continue to improve their away performance.

According to Plymouth Live, Rooney stated, “They are a good team, good energy.”

It’s going to be a really tough game, as I always say.

“We had a successful away performance against Derby last time, so perhaps we can build on that.”

On Tuesday, Plymouth will play Norwich at Carrow Road. Kickoff is at 7:45 p.m.

Whittaker’s absence would make Plymouth’s injury woes worse.

If Whittaker’s toe problem was known to the medical personnel, it would have been risky to include him in the squad on Friday night.

If he will now miss game time as a result of making matters worse, that gamble has not been worthwhile.

In light of Plymouth’s fitness condition, they ought to have thought about taking Whittaker easy in the hopes that a game or two of rest would fix the issue.

Although the length of his potential absence is unknown, Rooney will already be suffering from the loss of so many important players, so adding him to their list of injuries would only make matters worse.
