Liam Gibbs, a midfielder for Norwich City, has received a negative injury update from Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The 21-year-old has played in seven of the Canaries’ first 17 league games this season, including one start, demonstrating his value as a squad member.

However, the young player was pulled off the pitch due to injury after only nine minutes of play in the team’s 6-1 triumph over Plymouth Argyle midweek.

His growth has been severely hampered by this, as he hopes to establish himself as a vital component of Thorup’s first team ambitions.

He is unlikely to return to action in 2024 due to a hamstring injury, and the Norwich manager has laid out a recuperation schedule.

Thorup gives an update on Liam Gibbs’ injury.

Thorup has confirmed that Gibbs will miss up to 10 weeks of action due to the severity of his hamstring injury, which was discovered during a scan on Thursday.

Ahead of this weekend’s home match against Luton Town, the Dane has also provided an update on Ashley Barnes and Marcelino Nunez.

The club’s official Twitter account stated, “We did a scan today and it is an injury just like what he had last time,” according to Thorup.

Regretfully, I believe that Gibbs may be out of commission for up to 10 weeks.

“We have a man we can put up front, and the goal with [Barnes] is to increase match fitness in games.

“He is said to be kind and laid back.

“[Nunez is] still available this weekend; on the first day of training after returning, he was electrifying.

“His return is welcome.

“I believe he would be too ambitious to play ninety minutes.”

Although Norwich will suffer from Gibbs’ absence, fans will be happy with the development with Barnes and Nunez.
Norwich City’s league standing

Norwich’s 6-1 thumping of Plymouth on Tuesday night lifted them up to 10th place in the Championship rankings.

With hat-tricks from Borja Sainz and goals from Shane Duffy, Anis Ben Slimane, and Ante Crnac, the Canaries put an end to a seven-match losing streak in spectacular fashion.

After 17 games, Middlesbrough’s loss to Blackburn Rovers has reduced the gap to the play-off spots to only five points.

Norwich’s next game is against Luton at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Carrow Road.

Liam Gibbs’ injury has hampered his progress.

Given that he would miss the busiest time of the campaign after missing 10 weeks, Gibbs has experienced a significant setback in his progress.

Without a doubt, he would have been eligible for additional playing time in December and January, particularly with the FA Cup approaching.

His development and evolution as a player will suffer greatly if he misses this time, and if not treated appropriately, hamstring injuries this serious can also have long-term negative effects on a person’s career.

However, the fact that other players are now recovered and back in the squad is good for Norwich, and Thorup will want to maintain that during the winter schedule.
