Prior to Sunday’s Rangers matchup with Ross County, Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes made their first full training return.
The two players who missed time due to injuries have made progress towards full recovery, according to Philippe Clement.
They are unlikely to be available for the match on December 8 at the Global Energy Stadium, though.
“It is good news that Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes were in full training today for the first time,” Clement stated, as cited by the club’s official X account.
Rangers need to make sure they don’t get hurt again.
Since both Matondo and Cortes have a history of ailments that have severely limited their ability to contribute regularly to the squad, it is imperative that they do not experience any setbacks during their recuperation.
Although their return to full training is encouraging, their history of injuries points to the need for careful monitoring to avoid more problems.
In addition, their level of fitness is essential for the team’s success, particularly during important games, so it’s encouraging to see everyone reaching peak fitness before the holidays and January transfer window.
Both players’ own performance as well as the dynamics and strategy of the team are disrupted if they re-injure themselves.
Furthermore, because football is a competitive sport, having important players like Matondo and Cortes available for a run of games can improve team spirit and offer tactical adaptability.
It will undoubtedly be a significant boost for a team that has struggled for goals this season to have two strikers back in the mix.
