The idea of Sir Alex Ferguson returning to Rangers has sparked discussion, with the Manchester United legend already rumored to have expressed an interest in being involved with the club.

The former Aberdeen and Man Utd manager, a revered figure in football, has recently been spotted attending matches in Scotland, including some at Celtic Park. However, it’s his connection to Rangers, where he played during the 1960s, that has fueled speculation. Reports suggest Ferguson has purchased accommodation near Ibrox, adding to the intrigue.

With Patrick Stewart now installed as Rangers’ CEO, former player Derek Ferguson has voiced his belief that tapping into Sir Alex’s vast experience would be a wise move for the club. Speaking to Ibrox News, he said, “Alex Ferguson hinted before that he wanted to be part of Rangers, or at least have some influence. For me, it’s a complete no-brainer.

“He could probably buy the whole of Govan, never mind just a house. But seriously, you’ve got to involve people with experience and a winning mentality. I’d also bring in someone like Graeme Souness—guys who have an aura about them and know what it takes to succeed.”

Derek Ferguson emphasized the impact a figure like Sir Alex could have, adding, “Alex Ferguson, phwoah – he has an aura about him. If someone of his stature is willing to come in and be around the club, it’s an opportunity you can’t pass up. I’d love to see that happen.”

The prospect of Ferguson, one of football’s most decorated managers, playing a role at Rangers would undoubtedly excite fans and strengthen the club’s pursuit of future success.
