Danny Mills has suggested that Rangers fans could create an intimidating atmosphere for Tottenham in their Europa League clash on Thursday.
The Gers have secured three wins from their five matches in the competition so far, placing them eighth in the league phase—just inside the automatic qualification spots for the knockout stages. Their opponents, Tottenham, are close behind in ninth, trailing by only two goals scored.
Speaking on talkSPORT2 on 10 December, former England defender Mills gave his thoughts when asked for a prediction by co-host Jim Proudfoot. He said: “The gulf in quality should suggest that Tottenham win comfortably, that’s how it should play out. But it’s at Ibrox, isn’t it? That crowd could be fierce, it could be intimidating.”
Home Form Vital for Rangers
Despite a poor domestic season, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has seen his side perform well at home. The Light Blues have only suffered three defeats at Ibrox this season, including a 4-1 loss to Lyon in their opening European game.
The Europa League has offered Clement some respite, with Rangers achieving three wins, one draw, and one defeat in the competition so far. Domestically, their form has also improved, with the team now on a three-match winning streak in the Scottish Premiership.
However, the coming week could prove decisive for Clement’s future. With games against Tottenham in the Europa League and Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final, anything less than positive results could spell the end of the Belgian’s tenure at Ibrox.
