Norwich City may be gearing up for a busy January transfer window, with potential squad reinforcements on the horizon.

This could also see one or two players departing Carrow Road as the Canaries look to balance their squad.

Under Johannes Hoff Thorup, Norwich has had a mixed season, achieving notable wins against Watford, Hull City, and Luton Town but also suffering frustrating losses to lower-ranked sides like Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers. Currently sitting just outside the Championship play-off spots, Norwich faces the challenge of returning to winning form after a two-game winless streak, making January’s transfer activity crucial for their promotion ambitions.

Christian Fassnacht Tipped for a 2025 Exit

While fans might be anxious about Championship top scorer Borja Sainz attracting interest—particularly after links to Athletic Bilbao last summer—fan pundit Zeke Downes has suggested that Christian Fassnacht could be the player most eager to move on during the winter window.

“Christian Fassnacht is probably desperate for a move away,” Zeke told FLW. “He arrived with a strong reputation and had his moments last season, scoring a few goals. But it hasn’t clicked for him, and it seems the manager doesn’t value him in this system. At his age, a fresh start might be what he needs.”

Fassnacht Seeking Regular Game Time

Fassnacht’s limited opportunities this season—just three Championship appearances—coupled with his expiring contract, make a January departure plausible. The Swiss international joined Norwich from Young Boys last summer, contributing six goals as the team reached the play-offs. However, an Achilles injury has hindered his impact this season.

Reports suggest a potential return to Young Boys could be on the cards, and with his current deal set to end in the summer, a move in January would allow Fassnacht to secure regular game time elsewhere.
