Michael Stewart believes Hearts need to make another managerial change after delivering his Neil Critchley sack ruling.

Critchley has been the target of criticism from Stewart in recent weeks, who doesn’t think he has the management skills to improve the team.

With Critchley managing just three victories in the previous 15 games—two of which came against Premiership bottom boys St Johnstone—Hearts are in terrible form.

Fans are furious, with some preparing a protest, after the Jambos lost a two-goal lead over Ross County to only get a point when three goals seemed probable.

Only two and a half months into his job at Tynecastle, Stewart believes it’s time for Critchley to leave because he isn’t the leader Hearts need right now.

Stewart wants Critchley to leave Hearts.

“There are two points here,” Stewart stated on The Scottish Football Social Club. The club should, but I don’t think they will.

“Now, it could be unfair because I believe Neil Critchley is a very nice guy who seems like a football fan and someone you’d want as a coach.

But being a manager and a coach are two completely different things. Hearts needs a leader, and they experienced the same thing when they fired Steven Naismith. That isn’t theirs.

Neil Critchley was identified as the manager by the analytics. With all due respect, what about Neil Critchley’s managerial background makes him seem like the right fit for Hearts?

I mean, you wouldn’t conclude that he’s the right man to take over Hearts just by looking at the statistics of his managerial career.

Additionally, it was mentioned that he is a skilled player development. Now, the squad that is present should decide that rather than a transfer window.

Stewart takes issue with the Hearts board.

Stewart continued by criticising Hearts’ management for selecting Critchley, stating: “Hearts’ board has a poor record of selecting managers. This is yet another unexpected appointment.

“Cathro and Stendel were disastrous last-minute appointments. Additionally, the fans have grown weary of Critchley’s unexpected appointment.

“They need a manager; they just want a leader.” In his 17 games as manager, Neil Critchley has won five. They have won three of their past fifteen games, two of which have been against the bottom-place St Johnstone.

“I don’t think Neil Critchley is the right person to inspire this team.”
