Jack Butland, the goalie for Rangers, will not play against Celtic since he was admitted to the hospital on Hogmanay.

The nine-time England cap keeper was admitted with what a source refers to as a “significant internal bleed,” according to Rangers Review.

Before being released today, the 31-year-old missing had to spend the night in the hospital; however, he will not be able to play in goal against Ibrox.

Butland, who received harsh criticism for his performance in the 2-2 draw with Motherwell on Boxing Day, is reportedly heartbroken about missing the derby.

Thus, summer signing is required. For just the second time since joining the Light Blues in the summer, Liam Kelly will start in goal.

Following Butland’s withdrawal from the game due to his wife’s labour, Kelly, a Rangers youth system graduate who returned to the team via teams like Motherwell and QPR, kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory over Dundee earlier this month.

After the appearance, he told reporters, “It felt unbelievable.” Rangers is where I’ve been for a very long time.

“I entered the training centre for the first time twenty years ago. I have therefore spent much of my life waiting for that.

“I’m ecstatic; I won and kept a clean sheet. I signed for that reason, just in case I was ever called upon.
