In the Championship, Norwich City’s campaign has been erratic.

When Johannes Hoff Thorup took over as manager over the summer, the Canaries knew that the 2024–25 season would be challenging. Additionally, they lost some of their most important players from the previous campaign, as players like Jon Rowe and Gabriel Sara made significant moves abroad to Europe.

Due to these club changes, Norwich has failed to find consistent form and has spent the majority of the first half of this season in the mid-table region.

Given that Norwich is one of the top scorers in the division and is also prone to some really poor performances, it is frequently difficult to tell which Norwich will show up.

Finally, the January transfer window has arrived, giving Thorup the chance to bolster his team and add players. The five Norwich players who might leave the team this winter are examined by FLW today.

Hanley, Grant

Despite spending seven and a half years at Carrow Road, Grant Hanley’s departure seems inevitable given how little game time he has been getting this season.

Despite wanting to keep Hanley, the club captain has been benched for Norwich for nearly the whole season. His contract expires in the summer, and his manager, Johannes Hoff Thorup, has indicated that he will not stop Hanley from leaving in January.

Fassnacht for Christians

Another player whose contract expires in the summer is Christian Fassnacht, who hasn’t played much for the Canaries this year. The winger’s future at the club is in doubt because he has been out due to injury for the duration of the season.

Fassnacht, who scored eight goals in the Championship the previous season, will be missed a little, although Norwich can try to find a replacement at age 31.

Springett, Tony

Tony Springett, who is currently 22 years old, will eventually be searching for regular men’s football, but he is currently not finding it at Carrow Road.

Despite making a few cameos on Norwich’s bench this season, the winger hasn’t had a significant impact on Thorup’s squad. His contract expires in the summer, so the club might try to sell him in January or give him a final opportunity to make an impression by loaning him out.

Warner, Jaden

Jaden Warner, a 22-year-old who has only made one appearance for Norwich this season—against Stevenage in the EFL Cup—faces a similar situation. Like Springett, the defender may be granted an early exit in the winter because his contract also expires in the summer.

Warner can hope for another loan opportunity in the second half of this season after making ten appearances for Notts County in League Two the previous season.

Gordon, Kaide

Although Kaide Gordon joined Norwich on loan from Liverpool in the summer, he hasn’t really lived up to the hype. Thorup might not see any use for him heading into the second half of the season because the great majority of his outings this season have been brief cameos off the bench.

Although the young player’s loan is valid until the end of the season, it would be possible to make room for a new player if his loan is cancelled in the winter.
