The Hoops’ captain got away with it unpunished, but the Ibrox star was booked.
Irked After recalling that the Celtic captain was on a yellow card, Nicolas Raskin has stated that referee Don Robertson decided not to book Callum McGregor for their altercation prior to halftime.
After the halftime whistle blew at Ibrox, McGregor and the substitute Rangers captain got into a furious argument. Hoops captain McGregor smirked as the two were seen holding each other by their jerseys. Teammate Vaclav Cerny then held the Belgian midfielder back, and Robertson, the man in the middle, chose to give Raskin a yellow card.
Robertson chose not to give the Celtic player, who had previously received a booking in the first half, the same punishment. to give the Light Blues’ player a yellow card, but McGregor’s involvement in the rammy went unpunished. “I just didn’t understand, because McGregor and I, we had some contact,” Raskin said, acknowledging that he was perplexed by the call.
“I believe the referee intended to book us both, but after taking a look at him and realising he had a yellow, he simply booked me. Since you have to book him if you book me, it felt a little unfair to me. We’ve taken the same action. It was a little strange.
Raskin continued, “I was calm,” when asked what he said to Robertson as he walked slowly off the pitch for the half. I was merely telling the referee that it was unjust since you have to book both players if you wanted to. You don’t reserve one without also booking the other. The referee told me that he didn’t simply see, but that you either book both or no one.
