Chris Wilder, the manager of Sheffield United, has hinted that Anis Slimane’s future is not at Bramall Lane by confirming that he will not rejoin the team during the January transfer window.

In order to force a move, the 23-year-old left Yorkshire for a loan move to Norwich City, scoring during Sheffield United’s EFL Cup match against Barnsley.

Slimane, who had worked with Canaries manager Johannes Hoff Thorup when he was younger at Akademisk Boldklub, was eager to get back in touch with him.

However, there were rumours among Blades supporters that Slimane would return to the Steel City because United was lacking midfield players because of injuries to Vini Souza and Oli Arblaster.

However, Wilder has denied that this is happening, stating that Norwich has the option to make Slimane’s move permanent at the end of the current campaign and that the Blades manager is not pleased with the way Slimane left the team.

Chris Wilder denies Sheffield United’s Anis Slimane recall

Talks over a full-time transfer have begun, and Wilder confirmed during his pre-game news conference for the trip to Watford that the Tunisian international would finish out his loan stay in Norfolk.

According to the Sheffield Star, Wilder stated: “I believe that negotiations are still going on with Norwich about Anis.”

He wanted to make that choice because he is there for the season. Otherwise, he would have remained and been a member of the first team. However, players can choose to do that. Norwich is a great club, and he wanted to play for a manager he had previously worked with.

Therefore, Anis had no problem doing what he intended to do. Perhaps he ought to have been a little more explicit about it during that time and during that game, which, as you can imagine, didn’t sit well with me. Anis will not be with the football team in the future. if it is long-term or medium-term.

Chris Wilder’s admission suggests midfield additions in January.

Although Slimane’s return doesn’t appear realistic, it does suggest that Sheffield United will be occupied with midfield matters during the January transfer window. They will have more money to spend following their acquisition of the US-based COH Sports group in late December.

In the middle of the park, the Blades have already been evaluating their alternatives. According to reports, Hamza Choudhury of Leicester City has been added to their transfer shortlist in anticipation of a possible deal this month.

The Yorkshire-based team may also sign another Premier League player, as Tyler Morton, a promising player from Liverpool, has been targeted in recent weeks.

Since teams like Leeds and Burnley are now better prepared to handle the demanding second half of the season, Sheffield United will need to make wise hiring decisions if they want to maintain their chances of earning automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
