Keith Hackett has called for the SFA to investigate footage involving Brendan Rodgers during the Rangers vs. Celtic clash.

Rangers secured an impressive 3-0 victory in the Old Firm showdown at Ibrox on Thursday (2 January), delivering a morale-boosting performance. However, an off-field incident threatened to overshadow their success.

Footage shared on X (3 January) appeared to show Celtic manager Rodgers in an embrace with one of the match officials following a key decision early in the second half, where a Celtic goal was correctly ruled offside.

Speaking to Ibrox News, former FIFA referee Hackett emphasized the importance of officials maintaining neutrality at all times. “The situation captured in this video warrants investigation by the Scottish Football Association,” he stated. “Willie Collum, now Head of Referees and a former international referee, will not be pleased when he sees this. It’s unfortunate, considering the referee’s strong performance and the correct offside call.”

Rodgers’ touchline behavior has raised eyebrows, especially after the controversy surrounding the Scottish League Cup final. Should the SFA decide to review the footage, the resulting actions—or lack thereof—will be closely watched.

Despite the potential fallout, Rangers will likely remain unfazed, their dominant display a stark contrast to their disappointing penalty loss at Hampden Park last month.
