After a permanent option provision in Anis Ben Slimane’s loan was activated, Norwich City is expected to pay £1.2 million to purchase the Sheffield United player.

The 23-year-old is expected to sign a deal that will keep him at Carrow Road through the summer of 2028, according to Conor Southwell.

Slimane joined the Blades in the summer of 2023, but under Chris Wilder, he struggled for playing time, and on deadline day in August, he was loaned to Norwich.

This season, the Tunisia international has made 18 league appearances and scored two goals for Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team.

Transfer decision for Anis Ben Slimane

When asked if Slimane’s signing was disappointing or if he was just unfortunate, Blades Ramble’s Jimmy, a Sheffield United fan commentator for FLW, said that there were a number of reasons why he didn’t perform well at Bramall Lane.

But even if he was a disappointing addition, he thinks the team did well to get a price for him.

Jimmy said Football League World, “Anis Slimane was ultimately disappointing, but that’s not necessarily his fault.”

Cultures, systems, and a host of other factors can sometimes be at play when players don’t have the desired effect.

While some contend that Slimane hasn’t been given a fair opportunity at Sheffield United, others contend that he hasn’t really lived up to our expectations throughout his opportunities.

“No animosity at all.

“I think it’s amazing that we were able to profit from him. I wish him luck on his next move to Norwich.”

“I think everyone is happy because he did okay there for them, so we’ll take the profit.”

The Slimane agreement benefits everyone.

Despite not playing much for Sheffield United, Slimane is a reliable member of the Norwich squad.

Although £1.2 million isn’t a hefty price tag, it is a respectable sum for the Blades to pay for a player who wasn’t in their original team intentions.

Slimane is now at a club where he is a more important member of the team, and both teams should feel happy about this deal.

The transfer market rarely presents situations that benefit everyone, but in this case, it most definitely does.
