Only a handful of Scottish Premiership teams have not added a player this month, including Hibs.

Even though the January transfer window is well underway, Hibs has only confirmed a handful of leaving moves as the deadline approaches.

Noah Kenneh was sent out on loan to Ross County for a second stint, and Jake Doyle-Hayes’ contract was cancelled.

Although some of the younger talents have also been linked to Easter Road, supporters are clamouring for the team’s first new addition.

David Grey has consistently assured both parties that there is no need to panic in order to get business over the finish line.

Could a Finland U19 midfielder who plays for KuPS be Hibs’ first January window addition?

Hibs submit a transfer “bid” for Matias Siltanen, a KuPS youngster.

According to Swedish publication FotbollDirekt, Hibs has placed a bid for Matias Siltanen, a teenage phenomenon in KuPS.

The 17-year-old’s transfer bid was reportedly made by Premier League team Bournemouth, but FotbollDirekt is confirming that Easter Road was the true source.

Through Bill Foley’s Black Knight Football Group, Bournemouth and Hibs have a strategic collaboration and collaborate on things like hiring.

According to reports, Hibs has made an offer of 10 million Swedish Krona, or approximately £735k, for Siltanen. The Swedish team Djurgårdens IF, who are reportedly in the lead to sign the young player, is alleged to have lodged the same amount.

Who is Matias Siltanen, the KuPS sensation?

Matias Siltanen, a centre midfielder who was born in 2007, has already made 43 appearances for the KuPS senior team at the age of 17.

Since graduating from the Finnish club’s academy in 2023, he has consistently started. His efforts have garnered attention, and he assisted KuPS in winning the 2024 Veikkausliiga championship.

Although Finland’s 2025 league season doesn’t begin until April, Siltanen did play in four Europa Conference League qualifying games throughout the summer and recorded one assist.

For for the third time, a Finnish player was included in the Guardian’s ranking of the 60 most promising young football players in the world in October.

It is understandable that Hibs are apparently attempting to sign the young player this month given that he earned the Veikkausliiga Rookie of the Year award in 2024.
