Ibrox News has learnt that Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, is not on the shortlist to manage Belgium.
The manager of the Gers has faced criticism at Ibrox for a number of subpar performances, but he has also been connected to a possible move to national management.
This comes after Domenico Tedesco was fired by the Red Devils on Friday, January 17, and the head coach of the Light Blues was connected to the open position [The Scottish Sun].
The 50-year-old’s future is now doubtful because Ibrox News has discovered that the Belgian FA is dealing with “significant financial problems.”
Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, is not on Belgium’s shortlist.
Ibrox News was informed by a source close to the Belgium national team that Tedesco had to pay £840k (€1 million) in order to be fired.
Due to financial difficulties, the Royal Belgian Football Association can only consider “free agent” managers.
The 39-year-old’s former Monaco manager is not on the roster of possible replacements since Clement is still employed at Ibrox.
According to Ibrox News, candidates for the open position at the King Baudouin Stadium include Rudi Garcia, Michel Preudhomme, Louis Van Gaal, Erik ten Hag, and Thierry Henry.
