According to Barry Ferguson, Rangers should not hesitate to sign Lyall Cameron, a midfielder for Dundee, on a free transfer.
Despite the Light Blues’ interest, the former Gers skipper would give the young player a “heartbeat” at Ibrox.
The Glaswegian team has been pushed by Ferguson to seize the chance and sign the 22-year-old on a pre-contract.
“I would take him in a heartbeat,” the 46-year-old stated during an appearance on the Go Radio Football Show on January 17. I believe he is adequate. It is the young man’s responsibility to demonstrate his value and sufficiency, regardless of whether he starts every week.
“From what I’ve observed, Cameron is capable and seems like the kind of person who is prepared to put in a lot of effort. And you can’t let go of these guys. You must leave and seize a chance. Additionally, it is a free move.
Rangers will get stronger with the addition of Lyall Cameron.
In the upcoming months, Nils Koppen will likely try to sign Cameron for free after evaluating the performance of the Connor Barron trade.
Although the Scotsman has demonstrated enormous promise, the former Aberdeen midfielder has struggled for playing time in recent weeks.
If the Gers can close a deal, Cameron would be another highly regarded prospect in their ranks.
Rangers have a strong engine room depth thanks to the excellent relationship between Mohamed Diomande and Nicolas Raskin.
In the second half of the season, Philippe Clement has leaned on the Belgian and Ivorian players in the Bears’ redesigned starting lineup.
The future at Ibrox is bright with the rise of Hamza Igamane, and Cameron’s arrival would just provide the Light Blues with another talented young player.
The Glaswegian team should focus on nurturing up-and-coming talent and selling them for a profit, even as they strive to regain their position at the top.
If the Gers sign the 22-year-old, Dundee will presumably be entitled to compensation, but it would still probably be considered a good deal.
