The January transfer window is coming to an end, and Sunderland supporters will be hoping that another player will join the team shortly.
Sunderland is still very much in the running for the Championship crown, therefore it’s critical that Regis Le Bris gets the support he needs to win this season.
The Black Cats made a significant move early in the transfer season when they signed Enzo Le Fee on loan, but now finding a new striker is the top priority.
Nevertheless, it appears Sunderland is no closer to expanding its roster, even if many names have been connected to a transfer to Wearside.
According to Regis Le Bris, Sunderland is not currently close to signing a new player.
Tom Cannon appears to have left Sunderland for Sheffield United, while rumours that Matija Frigan would join the team haven’t materialised yet.
Le Bris told the Sunderland Echo that no specific deal is nearing completion and that they are still looking for the perfect player when questioned about the business the Mackems could conduct during this transfer window.
“At this time, nothing is [close].” There is currently nothing to report because we are concentrating on the upcoming game. There is a lot of conjecture and hearsay on the open market. Although a lot of work goes on behind the scenes, it is challenging to comment on conjecture.
“It’s obvious that we want to strengthen that [striker] position right now, but we need to identify the ideal profile. Still, it comes down to connection. One profile may pique our curiosity, but the player must also be related to us. The meeting is still ongoing and has not yet been concluded.
Choosing the correct player is more crucial than signing a guy right away.
It’s crucial to keep in mind that Sunderland is in a great position and has a very strong squad while we wait patiently for a confirmed transfer.
Especially in the attacking zones, it would be foolish to make any hasty moves at this time. Sunderland just has to find a good player to cover and compete with Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda, who are both excellent choices and the clear favourites to start any of the forthcoming games.
In the end, it won’t really affect Sunderland’s immediate future whether that player signs today or in a week, therefore they would be better off taking their time to make sure the player is the appropriate fit for their requirements.
