According to Kicker, Wolfsburg would trade Vaclav Cerny to Rangers for about £8 million.
The German sports publication, however, stated on its website on Wednesday, January 22, that the Light Blues lack the funds to pay such a large amount.
However, it is unlikely that the 27-year-old would rejoin Wolfsburg because he “no longer” wishes to play for the Bundesliga team.
As a result, he might sign with another team in the summer; West Ham was identified as a potential suitor.
Rangers will lose out on Vaclav Cerny and will have to contend with West Ham.
Since joining Rangers on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg in the summer, Cerny has become one of the team’s top players.
In 33 games this season across all competitions, the Czechia international has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists for the Glasgow giants.
If the Gers are unable to make the attacker’s loan move permanent, there is no doubt that he will leave a major vacuum at Ibrox.
This scenario is far from ideal for the Scottish Premiership team, who would undoubtedly struggle to find a replacement for Cerny.
Furthermore, if a team like West Ham were interested in signing Cerny, Rangers would have a hard time persuading him to stay in Govan.
The Ibrox team might not be able to compete with the Premier League’s allure.
Cerny will be hoping to maintain his excellent play at Rangers and assist them in reaching their goals for the time being.
