After Atlanta United shifted their focus to a new striker, Leeds United transfer target Emmanuel Latte Lath may still be available.

On January 29, GiveMeSport revealed that the MLS team had stalled their deal for Latte Lath and had made a £14.5 million bid for Benfica forward Arthur Cabral, who was once a target for Elland Road.

Atlanta made a huge £20 million offer for Middlesbrough’s Latte Lath earlier this month, beating the Peacocks to the punch. However, their negotiations with the Ivorian have stalled as he considers the move.

The door may suddenly open again for United to seal the deal for a striker who could propel them to promotion, especially since the MLS team is demonstrating a clear willingness to move on from Latte Lath.

With the transfer of Emmanuel Latte Lath, Leeds United stands to gain nothing.

Despite Patrick Bamford’s impending injury layoff, Daniel Farke has insisted throughout January that the Whites will not be pressured into making last-minute additions before the February 3 deadline.

However, as demonstrated by Monday’s goalless draw with Burnley at Turf Moor, the Peacocks still do not have the decisive instinct to make promotion a given.

Therefore, it would be a welcome addition to sign a striker, and since Latte Lath is by far the most productive of the frontmen they have been linked to, his arrival within the next five days could have a huge impact.

Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph are Farke’s only options after Joe Gelhardt leaves on loan to Hull City and Bamford’s injury makes it more unlikely that he will ever be a dependable option again.

With Atlanta stalling, it’s time for the Whites to take advantage of Latte Lath’s potential to offer the ideal blend of build-up play and finishing ability that Piroe and Joseph possess individually.
