The potential value of Lyall Cameron.

The January transfer window officially slammed shut last night and Glasgow Rangers went through the deadline without adding a fresh face to their squad.

Nils Koppen and Pihlippe Clement only brought in Rafael Fernandes on loan from Ligue 1 side Lille earlier in the window and opted to avoid any late-night shopping on Monday.

The Light Blues did announce a signing, however, as they confirmed that Dundee central midfielder Lyall Cameron is due to join the club at the end of the season.

In preparation for his move later this year, he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gers. His contract with the Scottish Premiership team expires in the summer.
The Daily Record claims that Rangers may be required to compensate Dundee with a sum of approximately £400k, since the young midfield player rose through the ranks with the Scottish team.
According to the article, the Gers would try to reach a fee agreement with Dundee rather than going to a tribunal, like they did with Connor Barron, for whom they ultimately had to pay Aberdeen £700k.

With nine direct goal contributions in 23 games, the 22-year-old midfielder has had a strong start to the top division season, as shown in the table above.

However, the club has already struck gold with one of Clement’s many excellent midfield alternatives, since Nicolas Raskin is far more valuable than the £400k the Gers could have to spend for Cameron.
