Although Dundee manager Tony Docherty acknowledged that his team had a “tough” evening losing to Celtic 6-0 at Parkhead, he bemoaned the refereeing calls in two of the home club’s goals.
They fell to Hearts 6-0 on Saturday, and Dundee gave up six goals for the second straight Premiership game. In the second half, a raging Celtic team tore his team apart.
However, there were issues with the decision to give Celtic a penalty in the 15th minute after a VAR review determined that Mo Sylla had fouled Auston Trusty. Docherty thought Callum McGregor had fouled Sylla during a play that resulted in Celtic’s second goal just before halftime.
In the end, it was a difficult one, Docherty remarked. We played well in the first half, and I was hoping for a response against a formidable Celtic squad
“I believe the first goal was soft, and no Celtic player disputed the penalty. Mo Sylla was fouled on the second goal, and I believe the calls went against us.
“We would have had an opportunity to regroup if we had merited entering at 0-0. However, unlike the third goal, we are unable to switch off in the second half. After the game, we discussed with the group the terrible goals we had lost.
We don’t instantly turn into a poor squad, but I do want their dignity to be bruised. We accept full responsibility and must be more defensively resolute, but we must immediately get back on track.
