Manchester United defender Harry Maguire made headlines once again by scoring a late winner against his former club, Leicester City, in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford.

Maguire secured a 2-1 victory for United on Friday night, heading in a Bruno Fernandes free-kick with the final touch of the game. Replays suggested he was offside when the cross was delivered, but with VAR not in use until the next round, the goal stood—much to the frustration of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

United will learn their fifth-round opponents when the draw takes place on Monday evening, with the match set for the weekend of March 1.

This wasn’t the first time Maguire has played a decisive role in a dramatic late goal involving these two clubs. In December 2017, while playing for Leicester, he scored a stoppage-time equalizer against United to secure a 2-2 draw, despite the Foxes being down to ten men. Reflecting on the reversal of fortunes, Maguire shared a split image on Instagram—one side showing his 2017 goal for Leicester and the other his winning header for United—captioned “Roles reversed.”

Maguire, who moved to United from Leicester in 2019 for £80 million, has experienced ups and downs at Old Trafford, including losing the captaincy. However, under new manager Ruben Amorim, he has seen a resurgence in form, featuring in every available Premier League match. His goal against Leicester marked his first since Amorim took charge in November.
