Borja Sainz has been a standout performer in the Championship this season and could be in line for a high-profile transfer away from Norwich City in the summer.
In his 26 appearances, the Spanish winger has netted 15 goals, delivering some spectacular strikes that have thrilled Carrow Road. While his team-oriented play has been questioned at times, his talent is undeniable, and Norwich will be counting on him for their promotion push once he returns from a six-game suspension.
Given his impressive form, Football League World has analyzed where Sainz ranks among the world’s most valuable left-wingers, using Transfermarkt’s valuation tool, which assesses players based on factors such as performance and age.
Sainz Ranked 78th Among the Most Valuable Left-Wingers
According to Transfermarkt, Sainz is the 78th most valuable left-winger globally, with a market value of €12 million. This marks the highest valuation of his career, a significant jump from just €2 million in July.
Several players share the same valuation, including former Norwich winger Jonathan Rowe, while Besiktas’ Ernest Muçi and Athletic Bilbao’s Álvaro Djaló sit just above and below him in the rankings. Surprisingly, Neymar Jr. is only slightly ahead, occupying 69th place.
At the top of the list, Vinícius Júnior leads the pack with a staggering €200 million valuation. Given that Sainz is only 23, he has ample time to further develop and climb higher in the rankings.
Norwich City Will Demand a Significant Fee for Sainz
As previously mentioned, Sainz still has room to grow at Carrow Road, and if manager Johannes Hoff Thorup can instill a stronger competitive edge in him, his market value could rise even further.
While Transfermarkt estimates his worth at €12 million, Norwich would likely demand significantly more, with Football League World’s Canaries pundit suggesting a minimum of £20 million for a summer transfer.
Before the January window, Sainz reportedly attracted interest from Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao. Having previously come through Bilbao’s academy, he might be tempted by a return, given the club’s unique transfer policy and its deep connection to the Basque region.
If Sainz regains top form and plays a pivotal role in Norwich’s push for a play-off spot or even promotion, he will draw even more attention. This would strengthen Norwich’s bargaining position, though with his contract running until 2026, securing his full market value could be challenging. Regardless, the club may be open to a sale, as a substantial transfer fee could be reinvested into the squad—whether they remain in the Championship or earn a spot in the Premier League.
