Rangers fans are still coming to terms with last weekend’s shocking defeat to Queen’s Park, and many may choose to avoid Ibrox in response.

The Light Blues were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by the second-tier side, a loss that has placed Philippe Clement’s position under intense scrutiny.

Despite the growing pressure, Clement remains in charge four days later and is expected to lead the team into Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash with Hearts.

CEO Patrick Stewart has publicly backed the Belgian, but a former Rangers player believes that decision could backfire.

Frustration Among Rangers Fans

Former Rangers midfielder turned pundit Derek Ferguson told Ibrox News that fans may express their discontent by staying away from Ibrox.

With both domestic cup runs over and a 13-point gap behind league leaders Celtic, Rangers have little left to play for this season.

“It will be interesting to see the attendance figures from now until the end of the campaign,” Ferguson said. “The Union Bears recently staged a walkout to make their feelings clear.

“What we’ve seen this season isn’t good enough. I think we’ll see very low crowds. Rangers fans don’t want to take this approach, but with nothing meaningful left in the league, some may feel the only way to send a message is by not showing up.

“I’m not even sure if Clement will give young players a chance. Take Bailey Rice against Queen’s Park—subbed at halftime. He could have taken anyone off but chose a youngster.”

Ferguson also criticized Clement’s leadership, arguing that settling for second place is unacceptable.

“The results speak for themselves—being 13 points behind Celtic is simply not good enough,” he added.

Ibrox Attendance Could Take a Hit

Rangers supporters are among the most passionate, but even their patience has limits.

The Union Bears’ protests were divisive, but they had every right to voice their frustration. With performances declining, further demonstrations could be on the horizon.

Ultimately, the most powerful statement fans can make is by staying away from Ibrox. A half-empty stadium for a league match would be an embarrassing sight for Stewart and the club hierarchy.

If Rangers want to prevent that scenario, dismissing Clement may be the only option before the situation worsens further.
