Hamza Igamane: The Face of Rangers’ Summer Transfer Strategy

Rangers have taken a new approach in the transfer market, cutting their wage bill and targeting emerging talent with the potential to develop into top players. Hamza Igamane has become the shining example of this strategy.

Signed from Moroccan side FAR Rabat, Igamane made an immediate impact after breaking into the team in November, netting 13 goals for the Gers so far. While he is currently enduring a five-game goal drought, his performances have not gone unnoticed—especially in England.

Premier League sides such as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have reportedly shown interest, leading Rangers fans to wonder how long the 22-year-old will remain at Ibrox. However, Igamane has made his stance clear—he is content in Glasgow and focused on his development.

Igamane Reaffirms Commitment to Rangers

Speaking to French football magazine Onze Mundial, Igamane dismissed speculation about a potential move, emphasizing his satisfaction with life at Rangers.

“I am happy in Scotland,” he stated. “Outside of training and matches, I spend most of my time at home. I have everything I need and lack nothing. I have to thank the Rangers management for ensuring I’m in such good conditions.

“My focus is solely on football and my performances on the pitch. Honestly, I don’t feel a major cultural shift from Morocco because the fans here show me a lot of love.”

Igamane also expressed gratitude to his representatives, VV Consulting, for facilitating his move to Rangers and ensuring he is in the best possible environment to succeed.

“I want to thank my advisors for their professionalism and support. They gave me the opportunity to sign for Rangers, a club with a massive history.

“Thankfully, I scored quite a few goals early on and had a strong start in Europe. I’m very happy with that.

“Of course, the climate difference between Morocco and Scotland is huge (laughs), but that’s just part of football life. You have to work hard, stay committed, and give your best.

“Here at Rangers, we have all the resources to succeed—it’s up to me to take responsibility and make the most of it.”

Eyes on a Morocco National Team Call-Up

Igamane’s performances at Rangers have also caught the attention of Morocco’s national team selectors. While he has yet to be capped for the Atlas Lions, recent reports suggest he is being closely monitored.

The January Player of the Month for Scotland has his sights set on earning a place in the squad, though he acknowledges the stiff competition for spots—especially with the Africa Cup of Nations on the horizon.

“Competition is fierce,” Igamane admitted. “Morocco has a wealth of talented players, so earning a place in the squad is not easy.

“Every Moroccan dreams of representing their country. To do that, you have to be at your absolute best.

“I won’t lie—I think about the national team. But I still have time to work hard and prove myself. Hopefully, I can earn a call-up, maybe even for the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup.”*

Focused on Rangers and Future Growth

When asked about his ambitions for 2025, Igamane was clear—his priority is to continue improving at Rangers and push for a place in the Morocco squad. There was no mention of a transfer elsewhere, reinforcing his commitment to Ibrox.

*”It’s always difficult to talk about yourself, but what I know is that I still have a lot of room for improvement.

“I need to keep working—there’s no substitute for consistency and effort. That’s the only way to fix my flaws and maximize my potential.

“My goal is to maintain my progress, keep developing, and take the next steps in my career. In the long run, I hope to establish myself in the Moroccan national team and proudly represent my country.”*

For now, Igamane remains firmly grounded at Rangers, focused on his growth and eager to prove himself on both the domestic and international stage.
