Rangers and 49ers Enterprises Nearing Agreement on Takeover

Rangers and the San Francisco 49ers appear to have reached a general agreement regarding the club’s takeover.

Discussions were already at an advanced stage, but recent developments suggest significant progress has been made.

Dave King, who holds a 13% stake in the club, is reportedly in favor of the deal.

Rangers Could Have New Owners by April

BBC journalist Tom English has provided further insight into the situation, indicating that the takeover is moving forward.

The 49ers are expected to acquire a majority stake—over 50%—while also assuming the club’s existing debt, much of which is owed to John Bennett, a 7% shareholder and former Rangers chairman.

The target for completing the deal is between April and June, with 49ers Enterprises eager to finalize it within that timeframe.

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe is leading the negotiations, playing a key role in pushing the deal forward.

Behind the scenes, there is a growing consensus at Rangers that new investment and leadership are needed.

Changes Could Be Coming for Key Figures at Ibrox

If the 49ers secure majority ownership, the futures of several senior figures at the club remain uncertain.

Patrick Stewart, who recently joined the club, could be given some time, but if the new owners have a preferred candidate for the CEO role, he may be replaced.

Similarly, Philippe Clement’s position is uncertain, as his tenure has been underwhelming. The 49ers may look to make a managerial change to align with their vision.

With fan sentiment in mind, parting ways with Clement could be an early move to gain supporter backing.

The expected timing of the takeover—before the summer transfer window—could allow the new owners to make sweeping changes ahead of the next season.
