Philippe Clement has delivered a new message to Rangers following his long-anticipated sacking from Ibrox.
The Belgian was dismissed by club chairman Patrick Stewart and the board after Rangers suffered a 2-0 defeat to St Mirren at Ibrox. In the wake of his departure, Barry Ferguson has taken over as interim manager until the end of the season, with takeover discussions ongoing ahead of a significant transition at the club.
Clement Finally Comes to Terms with Rangers Exit
Clement has now shared his best wishes with the club and its supporters, admitting that it took him several days to fully accept his dismissal.
The former manager expressed his disappointment, stating that he gave his all to improve things at Rangers and that the club will always hold a special place in his heart.
Posting on X, he wrote:
“Dear Rangers, It has taken me a few days to fully process and accept the end of my time with this exceptional club. I leave with a heavy heart, frustrated and disappointed that I couldnāt consistently bring the team to the level we all expected. I understand your frustrations, and I share them.”
Ferguson Faces the Same Struggles at Ibrox
While Clement reflects on his tenure, he may take some solace in the fact that Ferguson now faces the same difficulties he encountered.
This Rangers squad has shown a lack of character and resilience, often struggling to rise to the challenge when put under pressure. Despite significant spending in recent years, poor recruitment has left the club financially strained, limiting resources for Clement during his time in charge.
Even with the challenges, Rangers still had a squad capable of dominating most of the Scottish Premiership, but inconsistency proved to be their downfall. Costly results against St Mirren and Queenās Park ultimately sealed Clementās fate, despite his team delivering a resounding 3-0 victory over Celtic in the Old Firm derby just weeks earlier.
Now, it seems Clement has finally come to terms with his departure, though the frustration of what could have been still lingers.
