Leeds United Eye Former Championship Star in Bargain Transfer Move
Leeds United are reportedly keen on securing the signing of a former Championship standout in a cut-price deal backed by 49ers Enterprises.
Leeds’ Transfer Plans as 49ers Enterprises Prepare for Summer Business
While 49ers Enterprises are working on expanding their football portfolio by finalizing a deal to take control of Rangers, their focus remains on strengthening Leeds United.
Under Daniel Farke, Leeds currently sit atop the Championship table with 11 games remaining, holding a five-point lead over third-placed Burnley. A recent 1-1 draw with West Brom halted their run of five consecutive wins, with an away clash against Portsmouth next on the schedule.
Off the pitch, Leeds are actively planning for the summer transfer window, anticipating a return to the Premier League. Several names have been linked with a move to Elland Road, including Celtic’s Nicolas Kühn and Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale. Meanwhile, the club has made progress on outgoing transfers, confirming Rasmus Kristensen’s permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt for an initial £5m.
Further departures could follow, with Jack Harrison in discussions over a possible MLS return, while Champions League side Feyenoord have expressed interest in Pascal Struijk.
Leeds Revive Interest in Bright Osayi-Samuel
One player long associated with a move to Leeds is Bright Osayi-Samuel, the former Queens Park Rangers winger. The Nigeria international joined Fenerbahce in 2021 and was previously in talks over a return to England in 2023. Now, fresh reports indicate Leeds have reignited their interest.
According to Africa Foot, Leeds are once again considering Osayi-Samuel as a summer signing, and this time, they could land him on a free transfer. The 27-year-old’s contract with the Turkish club is set to expire at the end of the season, making him an attractive target for both Leeds and Fulham.
However, Crystal Palace appear to be leading the race, having reportedly offered Osayi-Samuel a four-year deal worth £72,500 per week.
During his time at QPR, Osayi-Samuel was deployed in an advanced attacking role, earning praise from former manager Mark Warburton in 2020.
“I thought he was outstanding. If you remember the Bristol City game earlier in the season, he gave their full-back a torrid time. He’s shown glimpses of brilliance, but today he was consistent from start to finish,” Warburton said at the time.
“He’s got blistering pace, and when he learns to use it wisely, he’s a real handful.”
Leeds Face Competition for Osayi-Samuel
Leeds may delay making a formal move until they secure promotion back to the Premier League. However, with Crystal Palace already tabling an offer, the Whites risk missing out on their long-term target.
