Nottingham Forest Considering Summer Move for Norwich City’s Josh Sargent Amid Premier League Interest

Nottingham Forest are reportedly among several Premier League clubs evaluating a potential summer move for Norwich City star Josh Sargent, who has been a standout performer in the Championship this season.

According to Nottingham Forest News, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have been closely monitoring Sargent, with scouts attending multiple games throughout the season in preparation for a possible transfer.

Forest, currently competing for a top-four finish in the Premier League, are aiming high but may still look to the Championship for reinforcements. Sargent has been in excellent form for Norwich, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s top strikers.

The 25-year-old American forward has been a key figure in Norwich’s attack over the past 18 months. After joining from Werder Bremen for £8 million in 2021, he netted 16 goals in just 18 matches last season. Despite some injury setbacks this campaign, Sargent has still managed 11 goals and five assists in 21 appearances, playing a crucial role in Norwich’s push for another play-off spot.

Nottingham Forest’s Interest in Sargent

Forest are reportedly one of several clubs tracking Sargent’s progress ahead of the summer window. Journalist Graeme Bailey, speaking to Nottingham Forest News, confirmed that the club has been considering the striker as part of their efforts to strengthen their attacking options.

“Forest, as we know from January, are looking to bolster their attack, and they are among the clubs keeping an eye on Josh Sargent,” Bailey said. “A lot will depend on where they finish in the table—if they secure a Champions League spot, their ambitions and targets may shift.”

While Norwich are keen to retain Sargent, his contract runs until 2028, giving them leverage in negotiations. However, his strong performances and growing reputation suggest that any potential move would require a significant transfer fee.

Norwich’s Promotion Hopes Could Determine Sargent’s Future

With Norwich in their third consecutive Championship season, Sargent may be eager to return to the Premier League. The Canaries are currently 11th in the table, four points behind sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion, keeping their play-off hopes alive.

Having fallen short last season after losing to Leeds United in the play-offs, Norwich will likely need to secure promotion to stand a chance of keeping Sargent. However, with Forest potentially offering Champions League football in 2025/26, Norwich could struggle to hold on to their star striker.

This summer could mark the end of Sargent’s time at Carrow Road, with top-flight clubs circling for his signature.
