Rangers Fans Reassured About Paraag Marathe Amid Takeover Talks

Rangers supporters can rest easy regarding Paraag Marathe, as a source close to 49ers Enterprises has provided an update on his involvement.

Leeds United chairman Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh are in discussions to assume control of the club, with an agreement expected soon.

Ibrox has experienced recent turbulence following the departures of John Bennett and James Bisgrove, but Fraser Thornton and Patrick Stewart have since stepped in to replace them.

Despite ongoing off-field challenges, Rangers fans are understandably eager about the prospect of new ownership bringing stability to the Glasgow club.

Marathe’s Football Acumen Recognised

A source close to Marathe has reassured Rangers supporters of his football expertise, emphasizing that he is well-versed in the sport’s business side.

The 49ers Enterprises president has been described as someone who understands football and the expectations of fans.

Speaking to Sporting Intelligence (5 March), the source stated:

“[Marathe] is a great guy. He gets the sport business. He gets football. He understands fans and what they want. If I were a Rangers supporter, I would have no worries around him.”

Ibrox Set for a New Era with 49ers Takeover

The potential arrival of Marathe and Cavenagh has sparked optimism among the Rangers fanbase, who have endured a period of decline since Steven Gerrard led them to the league title.

Managerial decisions have been questionable, and the boardroom has faced criticism for its handling of key matters. Philippe Clement’s tenure lasted longer than many expected, with Stewart eventually making the decision to part ways with the Belgian.

Barry Ferguson has now stepped in as interim manager, and his impressive 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Europa League (6 March) has strengthened his case—though it remains uncertain if he will be considered for the role permanently.

Marathe has already played a key role in Leeds United’s resurgence, with the club currently leading the Championship and on course for Premier League promotion.

Rangers fans will be hoping for a similar revival at Ibrox once the takeover is finalized.
