Ashley Barnes and Callum Doyle React to Vicente Reyes’ Message to Norwich Fans After Debut
Vicente Reyes made his Norwich City debut against Oxford United, stepping in for Angus Gunn, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
The goalkeeper, who joined Norwich from Atlanta United in 2023, had previously spent time on loan with Forest Green Rovers and Cambridge United. His first appearance for the Canaries ended in a 1-1 draw, preventing him from securing a clean sheet.
Reyes’ Message to Norwich Supporters
Following his debut, Reyes took to social media to express his gratitude and pride in reaching this milestone. He shared his disappointment at not securing all three points but was thrilled to have played in front of the home crowd.
“Mixed emotions after tonight!” Reyes wrote on Instagram.
“Felt like we deserved more than the point.
“Was such a proud moment for me and my family to make my Championship and Norwich City debut.
“Absolutely amazing to play in front of the home crowd.”
Barnes and Doyle acknowledged his post, with Barnes congratulating him by saying, “Congratulations, Vinny,” while Doyle celebrated the moment with a fire emoji.
Norwich City’s Recent Form
Norwich remain unbeaten in their last four league matches and have temporarily closed the gap to the play-off spots to three points. However, just one win in their last six has hindered their push for a top-six finish.
Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side will be eager to return to winning ways as they look to climb the table. Their next challenge is a home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday on March 11.
A Solid, Yet Quiet Debut for Reyes
Reyes wasn’t heavily tested in his first match, facing only two shots on target throughout the game. Norwich dominated possession with 78% but couldn’t find a winner after Mark Harris’ 18th-minute equalizer.
While he performed well overall, Reyes could have been more commanding in his box for Oxford’s goal. With Gunn still sidelined, he may get further opportunities to impress, offering him a valuable chance to prove himself at the Championship level.
